How the Program Works: Definitions
A General Session Lecture is a bible study/ class that students attend in person at a local center. Each study that is attended in full will award you 1 point. (3 for Saturday centers which hold class all day once a month) Depending on the degree program, you will find the required amount of General Session Lectures need to attend for students. 12 for the Associates, 24 for the Bachelor and 12 for Masters or Doctorate Programs.
A Distance Learning Student, will be able to download from the resource center recorded bible study lectures to meet the requirement if unable to attend at a local center. They can also substitute a lecture by attending another bible study or service at your church or in your city. They will need permission in advance from the School and necessary documentation to receive proper credit. These exceptions are approved case by case depending on student standing, Program, and other factors. Special conferences, phone line teachings, and seminars are also permitted under the same substitution policy.
Some advanced standing students who have received credit for life experience or previous schooling/degrees may also receive some credit towards the lectures, bringing their required number lower.
General Session Lectures should cover a wide scope of material in the areas of Biblical Studies, Theology, Ministry, Life Skills, Etc. It is through these studies that our students get tools to grow their faith, fellowship with other believers, receive encouragement, prayer, and experiences vital to maturity in Christ and in His service. You can request lecture material to teach from the school to assist you with your lectures. You may also teach your own material as well.
When attending a study (General Session Lecture) students must sign in at the beginning of every class with the Teacher.
Within 24 hours of each study, they must log in at the resource center on the school’s site and request credit for your lecture. Instructor must also do a lecture report following each session submitting 5 questions and answers for students when they log in. Any quizzes or homework given by the instructor to go along with the lecture needs to be completed or they will not receive proper session credit.
Assignments
Program Assignments are assignments that go along with the degree level. Each degree level has a number of assignments that are due for the degree level. These short assignments are required by all students of the University and are the same for each degree level.
Program Exams
Program exams are exams directly connected to the degree level assignments mentioned above. Program exam are taken online and account for 30% of the final program grade. Their last 1 or 2 exams will directly be from the Major Keys requirement listed below.
Major Keys Enrichment Series
Major keys are material that is solely related to the degree major selected, for example “Christian Education” or “Pastoral Ministry.” Although some may sit in the same general lectures with others, their Major Keys is what separates them because of the degree major selected. Each degree majors, has its own major key material that deal directly with that major. Major Key Series awards 45 for the Bachelor Level, and 24 on the Masters/Doctoral Level.
Although some major key items will be covered in a general session, students will have access to downloads from the resource center to complete their major key requirements and have concentrated study in their degree major. Each Major Key contains material, information, studies and reflections that students may have knowledge and understanding in their degree choice. [Whole courses that some Satellite Centers decide to teach count in this area as well.]
University Foundations
Foundation courses deal with general bible, and Christian living. Foundation courses are 3 credits each. Bachelor Programs require all 10 courses. Master/Doctorate will be given a select few to complete their graduation program credit requirements. They can also be substituted for personal electives, or by credit by experience.
Research Submissions
Research submissions are student’s personal reflections and opinions on various biblical or ministry topics. They are completed in essay form. Students will be able to download research submissions from the resource center. Each submission is awarded 2 credits.
Personal Growth Elective
Personal Growth electives are any additional course the students desires to take to further their personal growth or ministry. These are available for download at the resource center. Personal Growth Electives are not required except for the Bachelor Program where (3) are. There is no limit to number selected by the student. These electives are graded on a Pass or Fail bases.
How does all this work? (Student)
Here is an example:
William desires to get his bachelor degree in Christian Education with Isaiah U
Step 1: He goes to the website and completes an application and decides his payment option.
Step 2: He receives an acceptance letter and Student agreement from the University
Step 3: He gets a log in to track his program, registration for his general session lectures, and his program handbook.
Step 4: He begins attending Lectures at a local campus (or via mp3 downloads online if he is a Distance Learning Student) to fulfill his lecture requirements and begins his Degree level assignments online. He takes the weekly lecture quiz online.
Step 5: When ready, he completes his Degree level exams (which are the same for all Bachelor Students,) finishes assignments, any homework given with the lectures and completes his research submissions.
Step 6: He completes his Major Keys for the program. William’s major keys deal directly with his major in Christian Education.
Step 7: He takes his final exam, receives his Diploma. (Students graduate when program is complete, but may also participate in the next scheduled graduation ceremony if they decide.)
We recommend completing Major Keys at the end of the program to avoid the distractions of lectures, and other work and assignments. Nevertheless, all requirements for the program can be completed in any order at the discretion of the student. Students should be prayerful, and use wisdom in completing their degree program.
